XVI PIKS Congress
The sixteenth edition of the prestigious Congress of Polish Chamber of Steelwork is behind us. The largest event of the industry once again was an opportunity to meet, discuss and exchange views on the condition of the Polish and global economy. During the Congress much was said about the situation on the steel construction market and the prospects for its development.
The 16th PIKS Congress was opened by the President of the Polish Chamber of Steelwork Zbigniew Barłóg (President of the Management Board of METALBARK sp. z o.o. sp. k.), who welcomed over 150 participants of the event. Then the speaker was moderator of Congress Bartłomiej Baudler (Vice President of PIKS and Managing Director of KERSTEN EUROPE sp. z o.o.), who invited on the stage representatives of the Specialist Committee – Paweł Racinowski (General Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Power Industry and Environmental Protection), Waldemar Szulc (Director of the Economic Society Polish Power Plants) ) and Tomasz Zieliński (President of the Board of the Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry). Then the substantive part began.
The evening Gala ceremony began with the speech of Witold Orłowski – professor of economic sciences, rector of the Vistula Academy, chief economic adviser to PwC and a member of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Poland, who tried to answer the question whether Poland will catch up with Germany. The conclusion from this speech was almost obvious – the Polish economy has made tremendous progress in recent years. As the speaker underlined, a stable and developed economy should be based on cooperation, trust and creating a positive image of the country in the world and we should place more emphasis on these aspects. During the Gala, Certificates of the Producer and Co-Producer of Steel Structures were awarded and results announced of this year’s edition of the “Steel Construction – Implementation of the Year” Competition.
The evening part of the Congress was graced by the performance of the accordionist Marcin Wyrostek – winner of the Polish edition of Poland’s Got Talent, who together with the band took participants of the Congress on a magical journey through various styles and genres of music.
